What you will see here:

HBO announced the protagonists of the new Harry Potter series, set to premiere in 2026. Learn who Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout are, the new faces of the magical trio. The announcement reinforces global interest in the Harry Potter series actors on HBO, especially after months of auditions and speculation.

Harry Potter Trio on HBO: New Actors for a New Generation

The wait is over: HBO’s original Harry Potter series, based on J.K. Rowling’s work, officially revealed the young actors who will bring Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley to life. The chosen ones were Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout, after a selection process that involved over 32,000 children in the UK and Ireland.

The production premieres in 2026 and promises to faithfully adapt each of the seven books of the saga, in a series expected to last at least a decade. Each season will present Harry Potter in incredible adventures for new and old fans, keeping the magic of the saga alive.

Actors of the Harry Potter Series on HBO: Dominic McLaughlin is Harry Potter

With a role in the BBC series Gifted, Dominic McLaughlin takes on the role of the most iconic wizard in pop culture. Still relatively unknown to the public, McLaughlin impressed the team with his striking presence and charisma, essential qualities for portraying the “Boy Who Lived”.

Arabella Stanton is Hermione Granger in HBO’s Harry Potter Series

Arabella Stanton has a strong theatrical background and shone in the role of Matilda, in the musical of the same name in London’s West End. Her experience with intelligent and intense characters makes her casting perfect for portraying Hermione Granger, Hogwarts’ brightest student.

Alastair Stout is Ron Weasley in HBO’s Series

Alastair Stout, also a newcomer to TV, was chosen to portray Ron Weasley, Harry’s loyal and fun best friend. With a profile described as spontaneous and charismatic, the actor promises to bring the heart of Gryffindor to the screens.

Cast of the Harry Potter Series on HBO: Selection Enchanted the Audience

The selection process was led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, focusing on inclusive and diverse casting. Children aged 9 to 11 submitted videos with performances and personal statements.

Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod celebrated the choice with the following statement:

“After an extraordinary search, we are proud to announce our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. The chemistry between them is magical, and we can’t wait for the audience to meet them.”

The series will be filmed at the legendary Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, in England — the same complex used in the original saga films.

Filming begins in the European summer of 2025, and the premiere is scheduled for 2026 on the HBO Max platform (globally known simply as Max).

Additionally, the production marks the return of David Heyman, producer of the eight films of the original film franchise of Harry Potter, who now serves as executive producer alongside J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts.
