El largometraje debut del cineasta coreano-canadiense Lloyd Lee Choi\u2014que compite en el <a href=\"https:\/\/www.filmelier.com\/br\/festival\/rio-festival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Festival do Rio 2025<\/a>\u2014podr\u00eda incluso considerarse una especie de <i>remake<\/i>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Lee tambi\u00e9n: <a href=\"https:\/\/news.filmelier.com\/mx\/critica-if-i-had-legs-id-kick-you-pelicula\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cr\u00edtica: <em>If I Had Legs I\u2019d Kick You<\/em>, maternidad a la lynchiana<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><iframe title=\"LUCKY LU Clip | VIFF 2025\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RiRljkOC-yw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>O quiz\u00e1 no tanto un <i>remake<\/i>, sino una actualizaci\u00f3n. Separadas ambas pel\u00edculas por casi 80 d\u00e9cadas tienen en com\u00fan relatos detonados por bicicletas en contextos de marginaci\u00f3n, prueba de que la precariedad no se crea s\u00f3lo en la posguerra: la <i>gig economy<\/i> ya lo hace bastante con eficiencia de sobra.<\/p>\n<h2>\u00bfDe qu\u00e9 se trata?<\/h2>\n<p>Lu (Chang Chen) tiene un empleo informal en Nueva York como repartidor de comida en bicicleta el\u00e9ctrica. La bulliciosa Nueva York no muestra una precariedad social tan visualmente evidente como la de Roma devastada por la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.filmelier.com\/mx\/list\/peliculas-segunda-guerra-mundial-online\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Segunda Guerra Mundial<\/a>, pero basta con conocer las condiciones del protagonista para entender que ah\u00ed est\u00e1: basta un incidente desafortunado\u2014ni decir dos\u2014para que su situaci\u00f3n econ\u00f3mica y familiar de derrumbe.<\/p>\n<p>Para evitar un sentido de miserabilismo e incluso de explotaci\u00f3n Lloyd Lee Choi tiene el enorme acierto de presentar, desde el comienzo, las esperanzas del personaje. Su situaci\u00f3n es, en general, desesperanzadora y solitaria, algo expresado por el apartado visual. La fotograf\u00eda guarda su distancia siempre, encuadrando a otros personajes desde la espalda, priv\u00e1ndolos de cualquier posible expresi\u00f3n de empat\u00eda en una ciudad de por s\u00ed fr\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>Pero, una vez m\u00e1s, el esp\u00edritu de <i>Lucky Lu<\/i> no es de miserabilismo, sino de un realismo sincero y emotivo.
