Es, por lo tanto, la cuesti\u00f3n central de esta pel\u00edcula. O quiz\u00e1 no si lo preferible es pertenecer al g\u00e9nero masculino, sino lo que implica pertenecer a \u00e9ste o al femenino.<\/p>\n<h2>\u00bfDe qu\u00e9 se trata?<\/h2>\n<p><i>Vermiglio<\/i> comienza en el invierno de 1944, en el peque\u00f1o y remoto pueblo hom\u00f3nimo situado en la regi\u00f3n de Trentino, en los Alpes al noreste de Italia. El profesor del pueblo, Cesare (Tommaso Ragno) lleva una vida mundana. Da clases a los ni\u00f1os, y en casa lidia con las adversidades del crudo invierno junto a su esposa y siete hijos.<\/p>\n<p>Un d\u00eda, aparece un joven desertor del ej\u00e9rcito, Pietro (Giuseppe De Domenico), quien se refugia en un granero. En el pueblo, deciden ocultarlo de los nazis y darle empleo durante el invierno. Es as\u00ed que, al poco tiempo, se enamora de Lucia (Martina Scrinzi), la hija mayor del profesor. En buena parte porque <i>Vermiglio<\/i> tarda un tiempo considerable en acercarnos a una distancia en que siquiera podamos discernir los rostros de los protagonistas.<\/p>\n<p>La directora nos presenta, primero, el n\u00facleo familiar, no de forma individual sino como una unidad colectiva: planos generales o medios, todos en cama al amanecer. Luego, la subsistencia: la que pareciera ser la madre orde\u00f1a una vaca, corte y luego ella reparte la leche a los peque\u00f1os, antes de que los espectadores siquiera lleguemos a conocerlos. Volveremos a la casa familiar, pero pasar\u00e1n varios minutos m\u00e1s antes de que veamos un rostro de cerca.<\/p>\n<p><i>Vermiglio<\/i> comienza como una pel\u00edcula de comunidad m\u00e1s que de individuos, una din\u00e1mica que se replicar\u00e1, tr\u00e1gicamente, por el resto del metraje en la narrativa, incluso cuando ya ha florecido el romance entre Lucia y Pietro.<\/p>\n<p>Y no porque la pel\u00edcula no nos presente las aspiraciones personales de las hermanas. La de enmedio, Ada (Rachele Potrich) ans\u00eda el amor y aspira a continuar estudiando. La primera posibilidad s\u00f3lo se abre para su hermana mayor, mientras que la segunda s\u00f3lo es viable para la menor, Flavia (Anna Thaler). El destino del bien mayor\u2014maternidad inclu\u00edda\u2014no tardar\u00e1 en llegar a sus vidas con todo el peso de una penitencia vitalicia.<\/p>\n<p>En el otro lado del espectro est\u00e1n los hombres: los viejos con expectativas muy r\u00edgidas de la masculinidad y de los valores familiares; y los j\u00f3venes espiritualmente rotos por la guerra, considerados cobardes o desertores por los primeros y llenos de frustraciones latentes.
